Animac is the International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, organized and produced by Lleida City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya. Over the years, Animac has consolidated its independent and artistic character. The Mostra was created in 1996 and throughout its 29-year history has become one of the most well-known audiovisual events held in Spain, with international importance and prestige. Today, Animac is a rigorous show, at the same time dynamic and welcoming, which continues in its effort to improve, generating new audiences and attracting all those who love animation. Animac is a non-competitive exhibition aimed at those artists who use animation as an instrument for their personal expression. We go beyond the limits of traditional narrative and look for visionaries who make independent and risky work that has strength and pushes its expressive potential to the limit.
The 29th International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia proposes an edition that explores the connection between humans and animals with the motto “We, Animals”. The 29th International Animation Film Festival of Catalonia, ANIMAC, organized by Lleida City Council, which will take place in Lleida from February 20 to 23, 2025, this year proposes a deep look at our connection to the animal kingdom with the tagline We, Animals. This edition wants to reflect on how humans are getting closer to animals in different areas, and how animated cinema helps to understand and represent this relationship, which is increasingly conscious and respectful of nature.
With a satirical and visually surprising collage, the ANIMAC 2025 poster, by Rocío Álvarez, imagines a future shared between species. The theme is also reflected in the ANIMAC 2025 poster, the work of the illustrator and animator Rocío Álvarez, who defines her work as “a set of miniature fables, a kind of vintage trading card album that also evokes the wall of a well-known social network”. In the central scene of the poster, the figure of a woman who symbolizes humanity stands out, oscillating between her mammalian side, nurturing, and her cybernetic side with a robotic implant that helps her manage her inseparable mobile . The ANIMAC 2025 poster is, therefore, a perfect reflection of the motto We, Animals and the spirit of this edition: exploring the dialogue between humans, animals and technology from a critical, creative and environmentally conscious point of view .
